There are very few things that I hate more than a guy exporting his personal drama into his workplace, angrily shouting and berating his employee for things that she had nothing to do with, and the show acting like that's not toxic workplace bullshit. Demon or not, comedic sociopathy or not, I hate the way that this show just does nothing to address it. He doesn't apologize for turning his employee into a verbal punching bag, doesn't show her kindness or respect, and yet, his employee likes him. This easy forgiveness for entitled jerks needs to die. Most of the other characters are fine and Xaphan is great. Crucially, none of them are economically dependent on jerkface, so they get to insult him with impunity, which makes my heart sing. But the episodes feel like they run too long and the central mystery concerns the absence of a beloved character, or so they keep telling me. Unfortunately, that's not the same as showing me, so I find myself not caring.
